Course Description:

This course will provide an overview of workers’ compensation and when to open a claim. We will take a deeper dive into TDIC’s workers’ compensation process, review workers’ compensation data and discuss techniques you can implement in your practice to reduce your work-related risk. We will also go over interactions with employees when they report ill or injured.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand workers’ compensation insurance and why you must have it.
  • Learn how to interact with your employee if they get ill or injured in the dental office.
  • Implement risk management and best practice techniques to prevent work-related injuries.

Speaker(s): Taiba Solaiman, PHR, RDA and Karen Schaffner

Ms. Solaiman has been a TDIC risk management analyst since 2007. She speaks nationally representing the company and advises dentists on professional liability risk management.

Ms. Schaffner is the workers’ compensation manager for TDIC and has almost 15 years of workers’ comp and claims handling experience. She focuses on prompt claim resolution, litigation management and overall cost savings.
