Navigating California's Tangled Weave of Employee Leaves

Coordinating leaves of absence (LOAs) under the various federal and state statutes can be a daunting challenge for many employers. This course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and respond to requests for protected leaves. Participants will also learn how to manage and effectively track the various types of leaves.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify which type of protected leave to apply.
  • Provide the certification and documentation appropriate for the leave type.
  • Track the various types of leaves and effectively communicate with employees while on leave.

Speakers:

Chris Onstott, Esq.

Mr. Onstott is a shareholder at Kronick Moskovitz Tiedemann and Girard in Sacramento. His practice focuses on employment litigation and commercial litigation. He has defended employers in employment litigation, including defending against race, sex, and disability discrimination and harassment claims, as well as wage-and-hour violations. He also has litigated numerous commercial cases, including cases involving misappropriation of trade secrets, product liability, insurance bad faith, and breach of contract claims.

Chris is a frequent presenter on labor and employment topics both for CDA, as well as various other educational and professional organizations.
